be happy

To be spiritual is to be truly and deeply happy.

When we are in a spiritual consciousness - connected with our true selves, and present in the moment - we are in bliss and our faces shine. The face of one who is content and happy - one who is not thinking too much - such a face is beautiful, like a blossoming flower - an inspiration to others.

Happiness and contentment disappear through desire and arrogance. If we have any desire and it is not fulfilled, we become unhappy. If we feel insulted, we lose our happiness in thoughts of what was said. Someone may say something that is not right, and we know that we are not like that, and yet we give our happiness away. We start thinking about what they have said - they came, insulted us, and went away, but we allow ourselves to continue thinking about what they have said, even when it was wrong. We should not allow ourselves to think of the past in this way. Even if someone is trying to give us sorrow we do not have to take it. If someone offers us fruit which is bad, would we accept that? We should not accept, from anyone, that which we do not want. We should give them good wishes, but we should refuse what they offer. In this way we retain our state of happiness and contentment.

We have to pass over the past - put a full stop to it - bring it to a point and let go of it. A question mark is complicated while a full stop - a dot - is very simple and easy. We should not waste even a few minutes questioning the behaviour or opinions of others - just move on. We have to be constantly ready to deal with whatever challenge arrives next. If we want to think about the past, then we should think about the wonderful experiences we have had, and the progress we have made, but forget about our trials and tribulations. Pass over the past.

In the same way, we should not worry about what lies ahead. The future is unknown, and, whatever we imagine is going to happen, the reality when it comes will be different. Instead, we should immerse ourselves in the present moment - take pleasure in whatever we are doing and experiencing now. If nothing is happening, then we have an ideal opportunity for some deep reflection - we can unite with our divine essence, and with the divinity of all souls - we can unite with God. In this way we make the most of our time, and get the most pleasure from our lives here on Earth.

Everything depends on our thoughts. Wasteful thoughts consume our energy, and drain us. We should not give any energy to thoughts which take away happiness. We should not allow unnecessary thoughts to get in the way of our enjoyment of the present moment. Happiness is our true nature, a gift of God. We should close all doors which allow sorrow into our lives. If anything is not right then put it right - finish all wasteful thinking, and focus on the here and now. We should count our blessings, and be grateful for what we have.

Be happy
